LIAT is adjusting its baggage policy over the peak period December 9 to January 6 to make Christmas shopping a hassle free experience for customers, a release from the airline said.
Passengers will be allowed to check-in two pieces of luggage and the combined dimensions of any piece should not exceed 62 linear inches, calculated by adding length, width and height, the airline stated. And no single piece of luggage should exceed 70 pounds or 32 kilos in weight. Where the baggage exceeds the free baggage allowance, the extra weight will be charged at the normal excess baggage rate.
To ensure comfort and safety, LIAT further said, only one carry-on item will be allowed and its combined dimensions should not exceed 36 linear inches nor weigh more than 18 pounds or eight kilos.
All baggage falling outside these specifications will be treated as stand-by excess baggage and will be forwarded within seven days of the passenger's flight at a rate of US$55 per piece, the airline added.
