PNCR leader Robert Corbin, just back from a visit to Canada, says he told overseas Guyanese that Guyana was still a good place to invest in and that they should play a part in transforming the country into a modern developed state.
The delegation, which included MPs Jerome Khan and Volda Lawrence, visited Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver.
Speaking at the party's press conference on Friday, Corbin added that since the gestation period for some projects was extensive, the party decided not to wait until it got into government to encourage investments. He also recalled that during the visit, the party discussed the state of crime in Guyana, the constructive engagement, the exodus of teachers, the state of the economy and the imprisonment of Mark Benschop, among other issues.
Apart from meeting several overseas Guyanese organisations, the team met representatives of the Canadian Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Vice-President of the Canadian International Develop-ment Agency (CIDA) during which the political and economic situation in Guyana was discussed.
