Although investigations to determine how two prisoners ended up on a shopping spree are completed, their police escorts are yet to be disciplined.

A senior officer told Stabroek News that though the investigations are completed, there is yet to be a determination.

On November 26, policemen were seen escorting the two accused prisoners, policemen Mahendra Baijnauth and Gerald Alonzo, in the Stabroek Square area and in the Ashanti's Boutique on Robb Street.

Stabroek News understands that the statements of all the eyewitnesses to the incident have been collected.

"As long as we get the evidence [the policemen] will be dealt with condignly," acting Commissioner of Police Floyd McDonald had said after the incident occurred.

Baijnauth and Alonzo are charged with the murder of University of Guyana student Yohance Douglas, who was fatally shot on March 1 this year when a police patrol opened fire on the vehicle in which he was travelling. Baijnauth also faces a charge for the attempted murder of Ronson Grey, a passenger in the vehicle who was wounded.
