Dear Editor,

I, like most peace loving Guyanese, condemn the PNCR for calling for the resignation of the Minister of Home Affairs. The Minister with the limited resources available and the support of the law enforcement agencies has been able to achieve a return of relative peace and stability to our beloved country much to the chagrin of opponents of the Govern-ment. I know people close to the Minister who can attest to the fact that it is not unusual for the Minister to work as much as 20 hours per day in the interest of bringing the crime situation under control. It is in the interest of certain people, especially the criminal elements, to have the Minister removed from his Ministerial position so that they could continue with their nefarious activities and it is for this reason that I expect others with similar interest to jump on the bandwagon in calling for the removal of the Minister.

The PNCR is in no position to accuse anyone of operating outside the ambit of the law taking into consideration the role that party played in the assassination of Dr. Walter Rodney and the use of the notorious House of Israel thugs in murdering and brutalizing innocent people including opponents of the government of that day. Let the PNCR tell us which Minister of Government was removed from his position as a result of these atrocities.

I am sure any investigation or inquiry will clear the Minister of any wrong-doing and the Guyanese nation will continue to enjoy the peace that has returned to our society.

Yours faithfully,

F. Singh
