ANOTHER companion who was in the car with Yohance Douglas, at the time the University of Guyana (UG) student was fatally shot in Sheriff Street last year March 1, testified yesterday at the murder case preliminary inquiry (PI).
Part-time teacher at School of the Nations, Ronson Gray, of Lot 2201 Layou Street, North Ruimveldt, also in Georgetown, completed his evidence-in-chief while led by State Prosecutor Jo-Ann Barlow from the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Before Acting Chief Magistrate Juliet Holder-Allen, attorney-at-law Mr Compton Richardson, representing accused Gerald Alonzo, finished cross-examining the witness and Senior Counsel Bernard DeSantos, for the other accused, Mahendra Baijnauth, began his cross-examination.
DeSantos will continue when the pre-trial proceedings continue on January 20.
Two other companions, who were in the motor vehicle, as well, when the tragedy occurred, Quacy Heywood and O’Neil King gave their depositions previously.
Alonzo and Baijnauth were charged with the capital offence following the unlawful killing of Douglas.
Baijnuath alone faces a separate charge of attempting to murder Gray, who was shot and wounded in his jaw but the inquiry into that matter has not yet begun.
