ST JOHN'S, Antigua, (CMC) - Barbadian batsman Jason Haynes will take over as West Indies-B team captain from round three of the Carib Beer Series because of the departure of four squad members to the ICC Youth World Cup in Bangladesh.

Haynes replaces Dinesh Ramdin as captain while the teenaged wicketkeeper/batsman, batsmen Lendl Simmons and Assad Fudadin and pacer Mervin Matthew leave for West Indies Under-19 duties.

Joining the team to replace them are batsman Shawn Findlay, a former Jamaica youth captain, talented Leewards’ batsman Austin Richards, and the Barbadian pair of Patrick Brown (wicketkeeper/batsman) and Ryan Austin (off-spinner).

The quartet will be inserted for the West Indies-B team’s third round encounter against the Leeward Islands in Nevis January 23-26.

Fast bowler Jason Bennett, who had a match haul of eight wickets -- including a hat-trick -- and helped the young side beat Kenya by 12 runs in the Carib Beer Series first round last weekend is the vice-captain.

In Sri Lanka, the West Indies Under-19s will contest Group B of the championship with Pakistan, Ireland and Papua New Guinea and are one of the favourites in the tournament, having reached the semifinals last time (2002 in New Zealand).

The tournament is scheduled for February 15 to March 5 and the West

Indians leave the Caribbean on January 25 for a one-week training camp in Sri Lanka.
