ROSEAU, Dominica, (CMC) - The managers of the Windward Islands and Guyana cricket teams have experienced mixed results in their latest Carib Beer Series match here but they worry over the same thing --batting inconsistency.

Windwards' manager Lockhart Sebastien praised his bowlers for his side's 131-run success over Guyana here at the Botanic Gardens on Monday. He believes it is a potent attack.

“We felt confident that with our bowling team we could bowl out any team in the Carib Cup ... all the bowlers bowled well that's why we won today,” he boasted after the game.

However, the former opening Windwards' batsman is contemplating strengthening the frail batting.

“The batting is still a problem, we're not getting enough runs, I think there might be a change; the selectors will have to decide if we are getting another batsman.”

For Guyana's manager Carl Moore, his team had a chance of overtaking the 255-run victory target but lack of application and consistency resulted in their third straight defeat and only their second loss to the Windwards in 24 regional first-class meetings.

“We were very optimistic we would have gotten the runs, the batsmen didn't apply themselves; they can do it, they must just be consistent and apply themselves,” Moore said in a post-match interview with CMC Sport.

In the fourth round this weekend, the Windwards travel to Port of Spain to meet Trinidad and Tobago while Guyana host the Leeward Islands.
