ST JOHN’S, Antigua, (CMC) - Not a ball was bowled on the opening day in the fifth round match of the Carib Beer 2004 Cricket Series between West Indies-B and Jamaica at Stanford Cricket Ground yesterday.

Overnight and early morning rain prevented the players from taking the field in the key match between the third-placed West Indies-B on 24 points and fourth-placed Jamaicans on 22 points.

As a result of the washout, play will commence half-an-hour earlier on the second day if the conditions allow.

Stung by their opponents in the previous round, both West Indies-B and Jamaica were hoping to go all out for points to cement their positions in the top four.

In the three seasons of the West Indies-B’s existence, Jamaica have won all their matches against the development side.
