`Big Truck’ not taking Azille lightly

BROOKLYN, New York, (CMC) - Guyana’s undefeated World Boxing Council (WBC) cruiserweight champion Wayne ‘Big Truck’ Braithwaite says he is not underestimating Louis Azille in his title defence next month at the world famous Madison Square Garden.
Braithwaite, boasting a record of 20-0 with 17 knockouts, has already beaten Azille, but does not factor that result into his preparation for the April 17 bout.
“I’m in good shape. I am preparing really seriously for this fight. I am not taking this fight lightly,” Braithwaite said on CMC’s Radio News and Sports yesterday.
“I know I beat him already, but I am not taking him for granted either because I know he can fight,” added Braithwaite, who stopped the New Jersey-based Azille in three rounds in November 2001.
Braithwaite also admitted to some annoyance at not being to land a major fight against big names like James Toney and Vassily Jirov, but said he will not allow that to discourage him.
“It is a little disappointing but you still can’t let this get you down, because you have a job to do,” Braithwaite added.
To date, 14 out of Braithwaite’s 17 knockouts have come in four rounds or less, and the ‘Big Truck’ has rolled over 15 foes in a row via the knockout route.
