Police spokesman David Ramnarine said that there was evidence to suggest that firecrackers were used during the Christmas season but that there were no injuries as a result.
The items were outlawed during last year because of the dangers to users and other persons around.
He said that he is aware of the banned items being sold on the market. He said too that it was to the credit of the persons using the devices that no one was injured during the holiday celebrations. He said that a number of persons were arrested, charged and placed before the courts for the use of the devices.
