The members of the Police Service Commission were sworn in yesterday by acting president, Prime Minister Sam Hinds.

The Chairman of the commission is Ivan Crandon, who had some thirty years of service in the Guyana Police Force; the other members are Frankchot Duncan-Clarke, George Fung-On, Harold Martin and Henry Chester.

Crandon told reporters yesterday that it is possible that their first meeting as a commission will take place on Monday.

The commission will be located in the Ministry of Public Works building.

Asked what will be high on their agenda, Crandon could not say, as he had not had a chance to read the papers they were given.

One pressing issue is the appointment of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Winston Felix, as Commis-sioner of Police. However, Crandon could not say when this might happen although he acknowledged that it was an important issue.

A Police Service Com-mission has not been in place for two years, holding up many promotions and disciplinary hearings.
