The senior national football team will have its first warm- up game on February 15 in Barbados, as it prepares for crucial World Cup qualifiers.

General Secretary of the Guyana Football Federation, George Rutherford yesterday confirmed that the national squad would fly to Barbados on February 14 to play the host nation the following day.

Rutherford said that the Barbados game was part of the federation's quest to have the national squad fully prepared for the World Cup qualifiers.

He added that Colombia had submitted a proposal to play the senior national side here on February 18. The proposal is being studied by the federation.

The GFF is also in discussions with a Brazilian semi-professional team which might play here sometime between February 15 and 26.

Barbados played Grenada twice recently, defeating them 2-0 and 1-0.

Guyana will play a home- and- away tie against Grenada in the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifier with the first game on February 28.

Meanwhile, five overseas players are expected in Guyana Sunday night and could be included on the trip to Barbados.

Randolph Jerome, Charles Pollard, Cary Harris, Abassy McPherson and Richard Reynolds will join the 26 other players vying for a place in the final 18.
