West Indies `B' coach Barbadian Roddy Estwick wants his team to leave these shores with the most points; their sixth-round clash with home team Guyana starts today at the Enmore Community Centre ground.
The coach was speaking with Stabroek Sport after a hectic practice session by his charges at the Everest Ground yesterday.
He said: "Our performance in the tournament so far has been reasonably good but I think inexperience led to our defeat against Trinidad and Tobago. Our loss to Barbados too was somewhat due to the same thing but the pitch also offered variable bounce, which the batsmen found a bit difficult to cope with."
Estwick said, "I know Guyana has a reasonable batting line-up especially now with the inclusion of [Shivnarine] Chanderpaul and [Ramnaresh] Sarwan but I think their bowling is a major weakness [which] we aim to take advantage of."
According to the coach, his team is looking forward to a good, hard game with a view to reaching the semi-finals.
He feels the inclusion of West Indies senior players Chanderpaul and Sarwan, as well as Guyana playing at home are two factors in Guyana's favour. He said though that his team will not be a pushover and will fight for all their worth.
The West Indies `B' side is captained by Barbadian Jason Haynes and has six other Barbadians, Jason Bennett, Ryan Austin, Anderson Sealey, Antonio Thomas, Kenroy Williams and Patrick Browne.
The other members of the team are Guyanese Ryan Ramdass, Antiguan Austin Richards, Jamaicans Shaun Findlay, Danza Hyatt and Dwight Washington, Grenadian Dennis George and Trinidadian Gregory Mahabir.
The manager is Jamaican Lyndel Wright. (Clyde Pestano)
