The Essequibo and West Demerara regional bodies of the PPP have followed their East Berbice counterparts in endorsing the party's expulsion of Khemraj Ramjattan.
A press release from the PPP on Friday said the party's committees and activists in Region Seven (West Demerara) and Region Nine (Essequibo Coast) subscribed to respective resolutions which note among other things: "...commitment to free speech does not mean that a party member can ignore his obligation to adhere to the party's rules as well as his/her commitment to the collective decision making process."
According to the resolutions, despite previous complaints against Ramjattan and his expressed regret and undertaking to avoid a recurrence of the specific offences, "he would continue to violate the rules."
It referred to "...the consistent efforts made by the central executive to reconcile differences between Ramjattan and the Party on a democratic basis."
Ramjattan was expelled by the PPP Executive Committee earlier this month for publicly insisting that President Bharrat Jagdeo had accused him of leaking information to the US embassy and the media.
