The Creole-bred Showtime outdistanced the field, to win one of the feature events of the Rising Sun Turf Club's One Day Mashramani Horse Race Meet on Sunday.
According to reports, Showtime led from start to the finish in the 1600m event, galloping away with the $120,000 El Dorado-sponsored first prize money ahead of Bound to Dance, Tairona and Sunday Heaven respectively.
However, Bound to Dance subsequently rebounded and in another 1600m event for Class `C' horses, narrowly edged Showtime to take the Omai-sponsored $120,000 first prize money. My Arrival placed third and Rejoice fourth.
Tairona of the Crawford stables had things its own way when it won the Class `E' 1300m event and the A E Jhuman-sponsored $80,000 first prize. My Arrival and Fair Quest placed second and third respectively.
Other winners on the day's card were; Just in Time (Class `I' and Lower over 1300m), Anjalie (Class `L' and Lower over 1300m), Fair Quest (Class `G' and Lower over 1400m), Winners Row (Class J&K over 1100m) and Cash Run (Class `H' over 1100m).
Over $1.4 million was at stake and over 56 horses participated in the day's activity.
