National men's squash champion Shawn Badrinauth who placed second in the Grade `A' category of the Bermuda Open Squash Tournament, would like to thank his many sponsors for supporting him in the just concluded tournament.

Badrinauth returned home on Monday along with Caribbean Under-17 champion Damien DaSilva. He told Stabroek Sport that without the support of his many sponsors, especially Ansa McAl, Toucan Industries and Kevin Jeffrey, his Bermudian experience would not have been possible and he would have lost an opportunity not only to vie for the title, but to gain valuable experience that will benefit not only him, but Guyana as a whole. DaSilva placed third in the Grade `A' category.

Badrinauth noted that both he and DaSilva also had the opportunity to interact with world-rated players who contested the Professional Squash Players' (PSA) category.

Other individuals and business houses that contributed to Badrinauth's participation are: Andrew Arjoon, Lloyd Fung-a-Fatt, the Williams family, Billy Fung-a-Fatt, Philip Fernandes, David Fernandes of Bounty Farm, S.A. Nabi and Sons, Everest Cricket Club, Spads Inc., Beverley Harper, Anil Beharry, DaSilva's Optical and Joe Mekdeci.

Badrinauth lost to Bermudian James Stoute by a 2-3 margin in the Grade `A' final, while DaSilva, registered 3-1 victory over Javed Alli, a Guyanese living in Bermuda, in the third-place play-off.

Badrinauth had defeated Alli 3-0 to qualify for the final while DaSilva beat Bermudian Anthony White 3-1 in a quarter-final but lost 0-3 to the eventual winner, Stoute, in the semi-final.
