The PNCR last night took its protest to the Prime Minister's residence on Main Street, with the holding of a candlelight vigil.
The protestors sang hymns, said prayers and placed lighted candles in lines along the avenue. Persons had assembled outside the St George's Cathedral before being bussed to the point of the protest.
The party said that this move is in keeping with the promise made during the Rule of Law march and rally last Saturday; that it intends to up the ante in its call for the removal of the Home Affairs Minister Ronald Gajraj if the government did nothing.
PNCR executive Clarissa Riehl told Stabroek News that the party took the protest to the home of Prime Minister Sam Hinds, because he is performing the duties of president, while President Bharrat Jagdeo is in St Kitts for the Fifteenth Inter-sessional Meeting of Caricom.
