EX-POLICEMAN Solomon Blackman, who is accused of killing two then serving members of the Guyana Police Force and injuring others in the March 1 bizarre shooting spree, was further remanded to prison yesterday.

Principal Magistrate Cecil Sullivan, before whom the prisoner appeared, fixed May 19 for the start of the preliminary inquiry (PI) into the murder charges before Chief Magistrate Juliet Holder-Allen.

Blackman is charged with murdering Assistant Superintendent Richard Griffith and Lance Corporal Ramnarine Latchana, who were fatally shot in Georgetown compound of Brickdam Police Station.

Two more charges against Blackman said he also unlawfully and maliciously attempted to kill Corporal Clifton Nelson and Constable Kester Cosbert the same day.

Blackman, of Lot 34 Bent Street, Wortmanville, in the city, too, suffered a gunshot wound when he was subdued following the killings and woundings.

He had previously been a member of the Police Tactical Services Unit (TSU).
