LOCAL Furniture Giant AH & L Kissoon Limited was recently presented with the International Arch of Europe Award Trophy and Frankfurt 2004 Certificate.
The award was given for immeasurable contribution to the business world and for high standing and professionalism demonstrated by prestigious performance.
Kissoon’s Managing Director Mr. Hemraj Kissoon proudly accepted the much coveted gold-plated award on behalf of his company at the presentation on March 1, 2004, in the Convention Hall of the International Frankfurt Hotel, Germany. Outstanding personalities from the business world and members of the diplomatic corps in Germany were among those at the function.
Speaking to Sunday Chronicle from his office in Furniture Land, Industrial Site, Ruimveldt, Mr. Kissoon said that staffers were overwhelmed when they heard the news. Management, he said, felt it was a well deserved award.
Pointing to his company’s commitment to total quality management, Kissoon stated that his company remains steadfast in its obligation to maintain this standard while improving its quest for the platinum award.
He credited the company’s success to the strict controls on quality from conception to completion.
The entire manufacturing process is done under one roof, from the curing of the wood to the shipping off to markets, and Kissoon said that he is proud to offer Guyanese the new concept in marketing `Direct Buy’.
Under the Direct Buy concept, prices are 50 per cent to 60 per cent cheaper, he added, and insisted that it was not an advertising gimmick.
He declared that Furniture Land is not a bottom house operation but an integral process that involves over 20 departments performing different functions on each product.
According to Kissoon: “Guyanese are not our customers; they are our family, and we treat them as such.”
AH & L Kissoon is a 54-year-old organisation whose main objective has been the distribution of quality merchandise at unbeatable prices. For the past 30 years, it has been at the fore-front of furniture manufacturing, he added.
He explained that the company over the years has acquired its own forest concession, sawmilling complex, solar and humidifier dryers, lumber yard, machine shop, furniture manufacturing facilities, mattress plant, foam plant with the latest technology in the Caribbean, Polyester Plant, Table Lamp Plant, Metal Plant and a layout of over 200 000 square feet of furniture manufacturing and showroom space.
