WORLD champion “Vicious” Vivian Harris and world title contenders Gwendolyn “Stealth Bomber” O’Neil and American Kathy Rivers, yesterday, visited several sponsors of the Clash in the Park card being staged by Holland Entertainment Promotions (HEP) at the National Park today.
Accompanied by a big stereo box, the mini motorcade first went to Thirst Park where Banks DIH Limited Chairman Clifford Reis met the boxers and declared that he would be witnessing the card, wishing them the best.
HEP’s Managing Director Carrwyn Holland said that three or four days ago, he did not know if the card would have come off, until several sponsors gave their support, with Banks DIH making the second best input.
The visiting party next went to Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), the major sponsor of the card.
DDL chairman Yesu Persaud described the party as a “distinguished crew” and urged them to continue flying the country’s flag, like the company whose rum won gold medals for the past six years.
Persaud said: “All my wishes for good luck to my country woman (O’Neil).”
Holland declared: “Without DDL support, we could not go forward with this card.”
The entourage also visited Courts and Humphrey’s Jewellry.
At the same time, World Boxing Council Cruiserweight champion (WBC) Wayne “Big Truck” Braithwaite visited a school in Vryheid’s Lust on the East Coast Demerara, along with manager Claire Small.
