The boyfriend of a Guyanese nurse who died in the arms of her two sons has been charged with bludgeoning her to death, police said yesterday.
Jacob Cecil, 57, turned himself in late Wednesday to cops probing the slaying of Waheeda Khan in her home in the Castle Hill section on Tuesday, cops told the New York Post.
The pair started to argue over Cecil sending Khan's older son, Safraz, 19, out to buy him some takeout food - and the fight escalated, police sources said.
When Safraz returned from the errand around 3 am, he found his mother bleeding badly. Her skull had been bashed into her brain cavity by multiple blows, an autopsy showed.
Safraz woke up his 16-year-old brother Rehaz, and the two teens tried desperately to stop the gush of blood. " 'Mom, everything will be OK,' " her boys told her, relatives said.
Cops have not recovered the murder weapon.
Khan, a nurse at the Hebrew Home for the Aged in Riverdale, came from Guyana and moved to New York in 1996. She had become a U.S. citizen shortly before she was killed. Yesterday, a police crime scene unit was at Khan's home on Blackrock Avenue and family members were out making funeral arrangements.
"It's a disaster for the family," Khan's eldest brother said.
"We're all grieving right now," he said, declining to give his name or to comment on Cecil's arrest.
