In his Youman Nabi message President of the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) Fazeel M. Ferouz notes that "The face of Islam as presented by many of our brothers and sisters seems altered. Militancy and rigorous religious conformity that now accompany it has infatuated our youths and some elders. People are occupied and influenced by images of Osama Bin Laden and kurtas in fatigue colours."

The president reminded himself and the entire Guyanese Muslim community of "the importance of knowing our beloved Prophet Muhammad and of emulating his states both externally and internally.

"May Allah help us to study, understand and follow the word of our beloved Prophet Muhammad, may the most high help us to implement this message of Muhammad in our lives and be examples of his virtue. So let us all, if we really want to end human suffering, disease, poverty and promote peace and harmony in our country or in the world, let us love, honour and follow the way of Muhammad - The Way of Islam."

Look to Prophet for

solutions

The Muslim Youth League (MYL) calls on all Muslims to observe special prayers for the solidarity, prosperity and integrity of the Muslim community.

The League's President, Shabir Hussain noted that the Greatest Benefactor to Mankind, Hazrat Muhammad was born into poverty and deprivation and rose to become a man who pioneered a way of life with admirable principles that were heralded worldwide and changed the course of civilisation.

The release observed that, "in many ways the situation in our world reflects similar situations as when the prophet of Islam came into the world." The MYL suggests that the solution can be found in looking at the life of this great personality and how he solved problems of that age.

Duty first to God

The executive of the Guyana United Sadr Islamic Anjuman (GUSIA) says the Prophet Muhammad translated in his life qualities that are associated with great character.

"In this age of political instability, ethnic and racial violence, greed, materialism and uncertainties, the teachings of this great prophet must be explored more carefully. We will have to extract the ingredients of nation building, religious and spiritual codes and appropriate moral, social and economic disciplines to establish strong progressive nations populated with citizens who are cognisant of their duty first to God, the creator and to fellow occupants of this earth."

A man who moved nations

The Guyana Islamic Forum for education, peace and religious solidarity extends greetings to all Muslims of Guyana and the world over on this grand occasion.

Quoting French historian, philosopher and French orientalist Lamartine the message from the GIF stated "this man moved not only armies, legislations, empires, peoples and dynasties, but millions of men in one-third of the then-inhabited world; and more than that, he moved the altars, the Allahs (false gods), the religions, the ideas, the beliefs and souls."
