The final report of the Disciplined Forces Commission has been completed ahead of a May 4 deadline.

Secretary to the commission, Gino Persaud told Stabroek News that it is hoped that the report could be submitted to the National Assembly before the end of the week.

He said a convenient date is being sought for the official presentation to Speaker of the National Assembly Ralph Ramkarran.

Parliament set up the commission to review and make recommendations to reform the Guyana Police Force, the Guyana Defence Force, the Guyana Prison Service and the Guyana Fire Service.

Evidence was accepted from the public and from the forces to inform the commission's final recommendations, which will be considered by the Assembly.

However, the commission's interim report on the police force has been before the National Assembly since December but is still to be debated.
