Banks DIH Ltd re-opened the renamed Arapaima restaurant yesterday five months after the Main Street location closed its doors.

"The Main Street Qik Serv" is fully air conditioned and has a patio shaded by large umbrellas for al fresco dining.

Located at the corner of Quamina Street, the outlet displays the new Qik Serv logo that will eventually replace the current logos on the other outlets in the country.

Neil Fernandes, General Manager, Demico Division said at the opening that the company invested approximately $25M in the renovation.

According to him Banks DIH has begun a re-branding exercise of its fast food chains, starting with the Main Street branch in its drive to improve service and provide customers with quality, affordable meals.

Banks DIH addressed preservation matters during renovation since the location is a landmark, Fernandes said. It worked closely with the City Engineer's Department, the Central Housing & Planning Authority and the National Trust, to ensure that the architectural integrity of Main Street was maintained.

With the new structure the company also hopes to turn around the service provided to customers. Addressing questions about recent complaints that have surfaced, Fernandes said that they are working for customers.

The Arapaima building was first rented from the Ferraj family in September 1981, but was eventually bought by Banks DIH in the mid 1990s.
