West Indies Vice-Captain Ramnaresh Sarwan described his 261-run record against Bangladesh in the second Test match, which ended on Tuesday, as his "dream come true".

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) release, Sarwan met President Bharrat Jagdeo yesterday at the Office of the President and said he was elated to have achieved such a record.

Sarwan's 261 runs is the highest in Test cricket for a Guyanese.

"I was so happy to be a part of such a great game. The score was a great achievement for me. I enjoyed every moment of it. To be out there is a dream come true for me. It's hard to find words to explain it," the West Indies vice-captain said.

Asked about Captain Brian Lara's decision to declare, eliminating the chance of him scoring 300, Sarwan said he took no offence at the decision, the release stated.

"Given the situation we were under, there were concerns about the weather. However, I was offered to bat the three overs, but I was watching the weather and I thought the best thing was to declare as the team had a fair chance of winning. That was the most important thing," he said.

Sarwan expressed confidence of the West Indies winning the upcoming England tour.

He also expressed gratitude to his Guyanese supporters, adding that his achievement was possible because of their support.
