The appointment of ex-Police Commissioner Floyd McDonald as head of the antidrugs commission has stunned PNCR leader Robert Corbin.
"Unbelievable, unbelievable...," Corbin said on Thursday. He was reacting to news of the appointment of the embattled former police commissioner, who has been appointed as coordinator of the National AntiNarcotics Commission established by President Bharrat Jagdeo.
The commission is charged with the responsibility of implementing the national drug strategy currently under review.
McDonald has long been much criticised by the party, which repeatedly called for his retirement during his tenure as police commissioner.
