The last lunch for outgoing President of the GMA, Ramesh Dookhoo. Today is the Guyana Manufacturers' Association (GMA) Annual General Meeting set for the GMA offices in the Sophia Exhibition Centre for 4 pm.
The top posts including the presidency are up for grabs. The current post is held by Ramesh Dookhoo who is ineligible having served two terms.
According to the GMA's Executive Director Derrick Cummings, as of Thursday there were no formal applications made for the top post.
Cummings said he was also not aware of any consensus decision to rally around one candidate.
However, he noted that a candidate can be elected president even if they are not present. General Manager of Guyana Publications Ltd Doreen de Caires is said to be the likely choice.
A 21-member committee is expected to decide who becomes president.
To Dookhoo's left is Mitchell Mabrey, the US embassy's economic and commercial officer and MS Ally of the Continental Group of Companies. Standing is Mohamed Sattaur, general manager of NCN.
