Vigilant police officers yesterday apprehended a 16-year-old city schoolgirl and a minibus conductor at the seawall where they had apparently gone to have some fun.
Stabroek News understands that the girl had left home for a work/study programme when she decided to visit the seawall with the conductor.
The driver of the bus reportedly left the two telling them that he would have no part in their frolicking.
While the girl is past the age of consent for sexual relations, a police source said her school uniform is what alerted the officers and prompted their actions.
The conductor would not be charged with any offence, but the girl was taken to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Eve Leary Headquarters and her parents were alerted. Her mother later visited the CID and took the girl home.
The actions of the police officers were applauded since it was clear that the child was disobeying the instructions of her parents and while it resulted in no one being charged the parents were alerted.
