Home furnishing and decorating companies will have their own show as the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce presents "Home and Garden Show 2004."
The show is being dubbed a "pre-Christmas extravaganza 'decorating your future'" and is to be held at the National Exhibition Centre from November 18 to 22.
Booths cost $20,000 but home furnishing companies who were at GuyExpo 2K4 will get a 50% reduction in the 8-feet by 8-feet booth space. Almost every home furnishing company from GuyExpo has already signed up leaving only 20% to 25% of spots available.
Shasdar Alli, co-ordinator of the event says the objective of the show is to highlight the products made by this sector especially around the Christmas season.
Furnishing companies approached the ministry asking for a separate exhibition. Alli says an exhibition for the Information Technology sector is also being planned.
"Basically this is a family show," he says, adding that they will be minimising the level of noise(sound systems) by having cultural entertainment. Ticket prices for adults cost $300 and children under 12 are free. Gates to the centre will open from 5 pm to 9 pm each night but the show will end around 10 pm to facilitate the entertainment aspect of the event.
Security will be tight and 500 vehicles will be able to park in the compound of the centre.
