Watch out Cellink, Cel*Star's on your tail...
Cel*Star has had a strong response from the public to its new service over the past two weeks, says Marketing Executive, Nicole Johnson.
According to Johnson, several thousand customers have already joined their network.
Cel*Star which formally launched on November 19 on Friday finally concluded an interconnection agreement with Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T).
This allows customers attached to their network to contact those on GT&T's cellular and landline networks.
Johnson sees the response to Cel*Star as being the result of its longstanding relationship with the public who persistently urged them to get their system up and running as quickly as possible.
She sees the response as being the result of the special features being offered including its two-for-one activation which a lot of persons are taking advantage of.
The marketing executive also acknowledged that its customer call centre which deals with customer queries has seen several of them expressing satisfaction with the network.
This has been reinforced by the Christmas outreach which the company has embarked upon to several coastal locations from the Corentyne Coast to Parika on the East Bank Essequibo.
Cel*Star is offering a GSM facility based on customer care and quality of service at a competitive price, says Johnson.
The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) after a period of deliberation in November finally granted Cel*Star rates to operate its cellular service. Meanwhile the interconnection agreement between teams from Cel*Star and GT&T was finalised after weeks of testing and checks to ensure that the connection of the two networks had been fully integrated.
Cel*Star's network currently allows the new cellular company to offer service from Corriverton to Parika.
They are hoping in the New Year to extend service to the Essequibo Coast and to Linden.
