If activity statistics of the local stock exchange website, www.gasci.com, are anything to go by, the public are becoming more and more interested in the trading of shares taking place at the Guyana Association of Securities and Intermedaries Inc (GASCI).
The site has just received its 12,000th visit, and if the current average of 54 visits a day for December is maintained, the total for the month should easily surpass the previous monthly record of 1323 visits in September. Director of GASCI Patrick van Beek comments that the site has a wide variety of information, including trading information, a summary of the key financials relating to each stock, links to the websites of traded companies and information regarding the structure and rules of the organisation. He added that after the home page the most visited pages are those with the trading results, news, information on how to buy and sell shares and details of the stocks traded on the secondary list.
