Robert Corbin: Leader of the PNCR
'She loves jewellery and flowers, but I'm not sure which of the two will adorn her this year. Either choice goes well with her charm.'

Carol Corbin:
'It's something that I really don't think about.

I let him surprise me every year, and he always does.'

Nicolette Lumumba:
'I don't know. It is not something that I usually think about.

All I can say is that he often surprises me and this year will be no different.'

Odinga Lumumba: Presidential Advisor
'It's roses. I plan to give her a combination of red and white roses. She has worked hard whole year and has been supportive of me in every way. The roses remind me of her freshness. She is fresh and the roses will tell her that.'

Prime Minister Samuel Hinds:
'What do you buy for the lady who has everything? I have read somewhere that you could only get her orchids, so that is what I hope to give her. It is an assumption upon which I base what I have said in regard to her having everything.'

Yvonne Hinds:
'I am not really sure what to expect. I get gifts from him all year round. Often he would bring me something from his many trips. I would get orchids or a plant, or something really special. He usually surprises me in a subtle way. Whatever he decides to give me this year, I am assured it comes wrapped with love.'

Anna Ramsaroop:
'My life is so complete right now that I don't know what more to expect. I have a wonderful husband and son, both of whom truly fulfil me. But, it is Christmas so if I were to settle on something I would say jewellery. He knows how much I simply adore jewellery.'

Peter Ramsaroop: Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, CariAir
'Anything I buy her has to be associated with Steve's Jewellery. When you are looking for exquisite, unique jewellery that one can't help but find tasteful, Steve's is the ideal place. There is a certain distinction that comes with their pieces. Additionally, I feel comfortable shopping there.'

Present-giving is one of the great traditions at Christmas time, so we asked six husbands what they would be giving their better halves today, and then asked the wives what they were expecting to get. See how good the menfolk were at surprising the women.

Enrico Woolford: Editor, Capitol News
'Well, I have already purchased her gift. I got her an Issey Mayake fragrance. My wife has a love for things that are Japanese so I got her a Japanese perfume. Besides that, I will personally prepare her a meal on Christmas day. The menu will be Guyanese with a touch of Italian.'

Patricia Woolford:
'I am not really sure what to expect this year. But, if I am to go with something I would say jewellery. I have a gold chain in mind, one with a little diamond pendant. I think that such a gift would be a lovely surprise.'

Paula Alexander:
'To tell you the truth, I have not really thought about it. What I do know is that he often buys me jewellery. He has good taste, I must add. If I were to settle on what to expect I would say jewellery.'

Lorri Alexander:
Pageant co-ordinator/television host
'It's going to be jewellery. Normally, I would buy something that is personal. Over the years I have purchased necklaces, watches, earrings and bracelets, so it has become sort of a tradition. However, my choice box is seriously taxed around this time. Our anniversary falls in November, her birthday is in December and then there is Christmas. I got her this really special watch this year for her birthday, which was on December 19. Please note that I have a limit when buying jewellery: no belly or nose rings.'

Khemraj Ramjattan: attorney-at-law
'It often comes down to jewellery for me. My wife adores jewellery and I have decided on a necklace this year. There is only one place I go to buy her exquisite jewellery and its King's Jewellery World. Besides the fact that I am good friends with the proprietor, I like their choices. He has jewellery that is akin to what I am looking for.'

Sita Ramjattan:

'I think that he will probably buy me some piece of jewellery. He buys jewellery on birthdays and other special occasions. His taste is good, so I can't complain. But, to be honest with you I have not really thought about it.'
