Police will start giving evidence in the case against owner of Swiss House Cambio, Farouk Razac and his wife Carolan Lynch-Razac early next year since they were unable to commence the trial yesterday.

Magistrate Gordon Gilhuys re-read the charges against the couple yesterday when they made their third court appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates' Court.

Both parties pleaded not guilty.

On the first occasion, neither was required to plead to the indictable charges.

When the matter was called yesterday, Prosecutor, Sergeant Deneashwar Nauth informed the court that the police were not ready to proceed with the trial and requested a short date for the commencement of the trial.

The couple is jointly facing three gun-related charges.

Razac and Lynch were charged for unlawful possession of one automatic Beretta pistol along with four 9mm magazines and 120 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

It is alleged that on November 10, police, acting on information, swooped down Razac's Bel Air property where the weapon and ammunition were unearthed.

On November 13 last, Farouk Razac appeared before Magistrate Gilhuys and was placed on $1M bail.

His 33-year-old wife did not appear on that day since she was hospitalised.

She appeared in court the following day and was remanded by Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.

Her lawyers moved to the High Court on November 15, after she had spent one night on remand in the New Amsterdam Prisons, and the reigning Mrs. South America was granted $500,000 bail.

The case will continue on January 4, 2007.
