The Brutal Traxx recording studio which has been making a serious impact on the entertainment industry locally now expands this with the presentation of a contemporary reggae gospel show featuring the popular 'born again' ex-dancehall artiste Papa San.
Also appearing on the show, scheduled for next Saturday at the National Park, would be Prodigal Son and another artiste who has converted to Christianity Chevelle Franklyn.
Public Relations Officer of Swansea Kester Mortimer Deane popularly known as Kester D informed The Scene that this is the contemporary gospel show of the year. The show would see San coming to Guyana along with his eight-member band.
The show is slated to kick off at 6 pm because it is a family affair and would run up to midnight. He explained this was Brutal Traxx's Christmas gift to Guyana.
Gospel lovers, Kester D said, were starved for and feeling left out of entertainment activities, because the music they love was not being promoted locally. Therefore he and the directors of Swansea got together and decided after talking with the public to bring Papa San to Guyana since he was the overwhelming first choice of many. The idea to include Chevelle and Prodigal was just so the gospel fans could enjoy a full night of praises through song. Chevelle was best known for her hit single with Beenie Man "Dance Hall Queen".
The show would also feature a line-up of popular local gospel artistes including Kester D himself along with the Firehouse Band, Divinity from Linden and the Second Coming Band that would back all the Guyanese artistes including Miriam Corlette-Williams, Anil Azeez, Solid Youth, Sean Sobers and cross-over artiste Edward Neblett.
Fusions Audio has been secured to provide the sound system for the show while two large screens would be erected in addition to one of the largest stage ever presented locally.
The venue has been declared alcohol free and is sponsored by Ansa McAl's non-alcoholic Tropical Rhythms. Admission to the show is $500 for children and $1,000 for adults. Tickets would be made available at outlets to be announced.
Papa San appeared in Guyana about four years ago as a gospel artiste courtesy of the Love and Faith Ministry. The gospel DJ shot to fame during his dancehall days with hits such as "I Will Survive" and "Maddy Maddy Cry".
