Having returned to Guyana shortly before the Facts 'N' Roses launch Jomo told The Scene after the show last November he was delighted to be back on his home turf after an extended sojourn overseas and still receive the love of local fans.

The local star, recently hospitalized after an accident, heroically came out of the hospital to play in front of an audience of a couple hundred schoolchildren last Wednesday at the Sports Hall creating a major upheaval.

Jomo, one half of the X2 combo with 2006 Soca Monarch Adrian Dutchin, revealed their plan to release new material for Mash in addition to a video. "It (their new song) will start pumping on the radio station from the end of December into January right through to February," he said.

Getting more into what the group would offer Guyana in the coming months, Jomo stated, "For the whole of February I have a whole heap of songs while Adrian would be representing his soca crown. It's gonna be excitement… a whole heap… plus we started working on the video for "Over You" and we've been working on another song."

Despite having made a name for himself in the region working with the evergreen Byron Lee and the Dragonaires, Jomo said that his real love lies in his hometown with his partner in the now star act X2. "People know me working with Byron Lee and the Dragonaires. Though my contract would soon be up with them, I still tour with them. So most times when I'm not here, I'm with them on tour. The X2 thing is our thing we come from Guyana representing for Guyanese, that's where my heart and soul is."

Prior to the Facts 'N' Roses launch both members of the group were out doing their own thing hence the statement from Jomo, acknowledging the love of the fans. "Adrian was in New York. I just came from China so we had to do this show," where it was, "awesome to know we've been away so long and still appreciated and loved. That's what music is all about it's not about staying here, it is about going outside and making people see what Guyana has got to offer. So when people ask if there's more like you of course, it's exciting."

He continued saying' "It's exciting knowing we could come back and have a good performance give them a show and make them laugh."

The show as everyone on the entertainment circuit would realize by now did not come off as expected but as Jomo observed, "Turnout wasn't so great because of the circumstances but the vibes were still nice."

Commenting on whether the turnout was a result of divine intervention, the perceptive artiste said, "It's not about God it's just about circumstances and situations there is only one being, and we all have talent so it's not what you do, but in what way [you do it]. It's not about God it's nothing religious. The Father has to do his work. That is always a blessing. The ground was wet and [there were] other circumstances. The ground there was solid so it really doesn't matter, other things came in to play that kinda put a little damper on things.

"Anyway the show was good and it is the first time [that there was] a show like this: fashion show and concert pulled off in the country. So big up to Facts 'N' Roses, the designs of clothes were excellent, the models were beautiful ...for all those who are not Guyanese and visiting and whoever were here they would have felt that Guyana has the most beautiful girls in the world, and I represent that all the time we all need to stand as a unit." basstone@lycos.com
