The pieces were bold. They were jazzy. And they were red, well mostly, with a live mix of body paint and the remainder of the rainbow thrown in when Olympia Small-Sonaram introduced her latest line on Wednesday.

Labelled 'Red, Bold and Jazzy' the show featured live music compliments of Sharon and Jazz Plus who play at Sidewalk Café and Jazz Club, accompanying the models on the runway as well as a line-up of Guyana's own recording artistes, Malo, Fojo and Celeste David.

The Scene counted close to 25 models including two junior models who livened up the presentation with their antics as Olympia presented lines of shirts and skirts, swimsuits and evening gowns.

While all the segments presented some form of titillating style a la Sonaram the question is how many of the pieces were actually wearable. For instance with the wide variety of shapes and sizes out there, the bigger ladies would probably need to steal an entire chicken to get dressed up in one of the oufits in the collection.

The swimsuits were as hot as lava with the red bold theme and it is possible several of the pieces were sold on the audience. The evening gown segment was somewhat scandalous drawing some gasps though with folks were overheard wondering how they could make one of the shorter pieces elegantly casual enough to swing tomorrow night! basstone@lycos.com
