THE legendary Chronicle Atlantic Symphony Steel and Brass Orchestra, well known in Guyana and several other countries, is to be resuscitated in time for cricket’s biggest event, the ICC World Cup which is coming to Guyana March 28–April 9, 2007.

Leader, Mr. Brian Allen has announced that the orchestra, which rose to meteoric fame in the 1970s and 1980s under the stewardship of the renowned Rudy Bishop, is recruiting new pan players, percussionists and horn players, and will begin practising in earnest very shortly.

This is in preparation for its anticipated role of providing choice entertainment for Cricket World Cup.

Teeming with enthusiasm, Allen is optimistic about the contribution the orchestra can make towards providing ‘quality’ entertainment for the mega event.

Said Allen: “With the expectation that residents, visitors, and returning nationals alike, will be looking forward to feasting on top class cricket, and the traditional Caribbean parties and other musical events, a few of the original members remaining in Guyana, with the blessing of Mr. Rudy Bishop, have decided to resuscitate the orchestra in the original home – the Campbellville Community Centre.”

He said interested persons, including novices, are asked to attend an important briefing on Monday at 18:00h.

Allen said practice sessions will begin at the briefing.
