A TOURIST guide, titled ‘Guyana: Where and What’, was launched yesterday at the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, on South Road, Georgetown.

The booklet is replete with a map of the capital, highlighting important buildings, a country profile, exotic places and the beautiful local flora and fauna, the Government Information Agency (GINA) reported.

GEMS Incorporated has printed 10,000 copies of the full colour, handy four and a half inches by six inches compendium for free distribution and producer, Mrs. Gem Madhoo-Nascimento said it was done at a cost of $3M and is intended to be an annual production.

She said the publication will be strategically placed at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, as well as at hotels around the country.

Madhoo-Nascimento said the compilation contains pertinent information on services, places of interest and a calendar of events taking place in any particular month.

‘Guyana: Where and What’ also informs on locations of hotels and other accommodation facilities in the city, Berbice, Bartica, Lethem, Linden and Essequibo and nature resorts and other attractions are also highlighted in it, GINA said.

Head of the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA), Ms. Indira Anandjit congratulated Madhoo-Nascimento for her timely initiative to coincide with the hosting of the ‘Super Eight’ matches of Cricket World Cup (CWC).

Thousands of visitors are expected to be traversing this country during the games from March 28 to April 9.
