Management of Grand Coastal Inn has recently exhausted in excess of $200M to expand and upgrade the four-star hotel.
In a media tour of the facility, Thursday, Chief Executive Office (CEO) Mokesh Daby detailed the highlights of the hotel, which include the new wing and brings the total rooms to 43.
The luxury hotel is situated at Le Ressouvenir, on the East Coast of Demerara, and is the only such entity located between Georgetown and Rosignol.
It is in close proximity to the newly opened inter-regional airport at Ogle, the CARICOM Headquarters, and the International Conference Centre.
The hotel features two grand suites, seven one-bedroom suites, four luxury rooms, 22 executive rooms, and two presidential suites.
A pool was also added, and it has been fitted with an artificial waterfall to deter from the noise pollution caused by traffic, to allow for a soothing tropical atmosphere with a poolside bar to complement.
Each room in the hotel is fully air conditioned and fitted with imported beds, wireless internet, large screen televisions with cable, bathtubs, and hot and cold showers.
The one-bedroom suites are self-contained and have living space and kitchenettes.
The hotel also includes a modern gym for guests, and is one of the only hotels that offer wheelchair access to every accommodation.
Included in the expansion is the Plantation Suite Conference Room, which is fully air-conditioned and comes with all the amenities of an international conference facility, including internet access, flipchart, overhead projector, audiovisual sound system with microphones, Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) projectors, television, whiteboards and screens, among others.
Daby also related to the media that the facility may also be used for other special functions, including board meetings, birthday anniversaries and weddings.
Grand Coastal also features two dining areas that may be used in conjunction with the conference room.
There is an enclosed air conditioned dining room with exquisite locally crafted furnishing and a menu with a Guyanese-Caribbean theme that includes an exotic mix of seasonal fruits and vegetables.
Also featured is an outdoor courtyard patio for an open air experience with a covering skylight canopy.
The hotel also offers a wide range of services, including business, technical and secretarial.
Entertainment is tailored to meet the lifestyle and request of the visitors, Tours and themed events are also facilitated.
For the local market, off-site catering is also available for cocktails, dinners and special events.
Grand Coastal is also offering special packages for the Cricket World Cup period.
The hotel boasts an all-Guyanese staff of 55 employees, as well as 24-hour security - monitored by MMC, with regular patrols visiting the facility.
In each room there are security latches and ‘peep holes' that allow for privacy and personal safety. There are also fire extinguishers placed at strategic points.
Daby also emphasised that the security arrangements are complemented by the fact that the hotel is located between two Police stations -- Beterverwagting to the east and Sparendaam to the west.
Transportation services are also available with three-hourly shuttles to the capital city in the morning, a taxi service for guests, and an airport shuttle to take guests to and from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
Daby also indicated that the construction of the hotel was done exclusively by Guyanese, with more than 80 per cent of the supplies obtained in Guyana. Duty free concessions were granted by the Government to import added amenities.
