Aubrey Moore gets 'Most Outstanding Boxer' title

Aubrey Moore has earned the title of 'Most Outstanding Boxer' after defeating Hendrick Pelswick last Saturday at the Andrew 'Six Head' Lewis Boxing Gym in Albouystown.
President of GABA Affeeze Khan remarked that the fight between Moore and Pelswick was the hottest encounter in the whole tournament and there was much controversy over whether Moore should be given the title.
The match was one in the first tournament hosted by the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) for 2007. Medals were distributed to the winners and runners-up in each match.
In the just starters under-15 division, Mark Charles defeated Keith Canes while Nyron Tyndell beat Nigel Ames.
Leon Charles and Roland Trotman defeated Terrence Adams and Shawn Elexey respectively, while Mark Anthony was taken down by Lionel Khuda.
In the featherweight division Cedric Hunte defeated Prince Slowe.
In the open under-15 class, Daniel Ford, Moolchan Sankar, Joshua Soodoo and Leon Withrite each recorded victories over Kelwyn Josiah, Derick Hyman, Horace Withrite and Kelvin Moore respectively.
In the junior under-20 welterweight division, Aubrey Moore, James Walcott, Daniel La Rose, and Nevin Everson defeated Hendrick Pelswick, Kevin Allicock, Keron Theon and Karem Tirrell respectively.
In an interview with Stabroek Sport, the GABA president said that he was pleased because the tournament was well organized.
Khan also expressed thanks to George Operchet who helped to make the tournament a success by organizing the facilities and setting up the gym.
Sponsorship for the tournament was provided by General Manager of Sterling Products, Ramsey Alley.
