A Guyanese-styled cabaret of song, dance and theatre will be held next Saturday at Sky 7, Sea Breeze Hotel at Pere Street, Kitty.
"My Funny Valentine" Cabaret Show and Dance Party, themed after the classic song made popular by Frank Sinatra will offer traditional music, jazz ballets, contemporary rhythm and blues and even shanto, the peculiarly Guyanese musical art-form made popular by Bill Rogers, composer and recording artist of international fame.
The Society Against Sexual Orientation Discrimination (SASOD), which is hosting the event, said in a press release that Guyana's top dancers will showcase their talent performing chutney, modern and interpretive dance and there will be special performances by the best of the Star Guyana finalists and semi-finalists.
Between performances, patrons will be treated to hors d'oeuvres served by cabaret hostesses and hosts.
Following the show, a special guest DJ will mix hot hits for the after party.
SASOD said doors open at 9 pm and the cabaret is slated to start at 10 pm and seating is open.
Advance tickets cost $1,000 and are available at Sea Breeze, Oasis Café, Oasis Too, Sidewalk Café and Rayon House of Fashion. At the door patrons will pay $1,300.
Proceeds go to SASOD's work on homophobia, HIV and AIDS and human rights.
