This week we feature the last three Miss Region Four Fantasy Pageant delegates. Because of the possibility of a clash with the Miss Guyana/Universe Pageant, organiser have brought this one forward to April 1.
Susan Roache:
Compared to the other contestants in the pageant Susan Roache is noticeably short. Standing at 5'ft and slim built, this petite young beauty has enough charm to make up for it. It is her first pageant and she is not intimidated by the experienced faces in the line-up. In fact, she is eager to start competing and show not only them but others who would be following the pageant that she is deserving of the crown.
Susan, 21, is a resident of Tucville. She said she has always wanted to model and has had a lifelong interest in pageants. A friend told her about this pageant and encouraged her to enter. Though she was a bit hesitant Susan said she gave in after getting some more details.
The beauty described herself as a strong-minded woman who is close to her family and loves challenges. Susan is currently pursing computer studies and working as a sales representative for a cellular phone store. When she is not working or studying, she is busying with fabric painting and ceramics. Susan said she hopes to walk way with more self-confidence from the pageant. She said people often under-estimate but has a feeling all that will change after the pageant is over.
Tamika Stephenson:
She is hoping the second time around is a charm since she has been in one pageant and came close to winning the crown. It was the Miss East Coast Demerara pageant and though first runner-up was not so bad, Tamika wanted to be queen. This 20-year-old beauty who hails from Vryheid's Lust, East Coast Demerara is forthright and she wasted no time in telling us that she is in it to win.
Tamika who is a fluent speaker does not consider herself experienced but pointed out that she is working hard on being on par with the girls who have "been there and done that". Before entering her first pageant Tamika said she spent time sharpening her public speaking skills; pageants fascinate her and she also takes them seriously. She is taking this one seriously and hopes to make a good impression.
She is currently studying Sociology at the University of Guyana as a pre-law course. Her ambition is to become a lawyer but she also loves languages and plans on studying two foreign languages in the coming years. Though she is somewhat self-assured Tamika revealed that she had to pray about entering the pageant and also had to seek the advice of her family. She said the family is supportive.
Tamika is the baby in a family of six children. She said family is very important to her and she holds her parents close to her heart. The young woman described herself as simple and unique.
Shevon Milne:
For Shevon the pageant is a challenge she has always wanted to take up and something fun she considered doing years ago. At age 21, she feels now is the time and she is hoping things work out in her favour.
"What can be more fun that a fantasy pageant?" Shevon asked with a broad smile. She has no prior experience in pageants but is looking to do well in this one. She admitted that it is not easy and that from time to time she gets a little frustrated. But she is having fun anyway.
Shevon who lives at Better Hope, East Coast Demerara is a young seamstress who grew up watching her mother perfect the trade. She said cooking is one of her passions and often she could be found in the kitchen preparing something to eat. She is also a cosmetologist in training. Shevon said she loves sports, especially basketball.
This beauty who grew up in a single parent household admires her mother. She said her mother is a strong woman and that she hopes to someday be just like her. Shevon describer herself as a quiet, easygoing person.
