The film, written and directed by Trinidad-born Barbadian Alison Saunders-Franklyn, will premiere in Barbados on Wednesday in a red-carpet affair under the patronage of that country's Prime Minister Owen Arthur.

According to a press release, Hit for Six! features a talented Caribbean cast in what is described as an, "exciting fictional account of the life of a sidelined Barbados and West Indies cricketer Alex Nelson who was the son of a West Indies cricket icon.

"It brings together elements of love, intrigue, disappointment and passion, as Nelson seeks to overcome adversities related to his games, personal relationships and lifestyle."

What is more exciting about the film, which has received the blessing of the West Indies Cricket Board, is that it has cameo appearances of the cricket legends in Barbados, such as Sir Everton Weekes, Joel 'Big Bird' Garner, Rev Wes Hall, Desmond Haynes and Gordon Greenidge. But it does not stop there, soca queen Alison Hinds and cricket commentators Tony Cozier, Andrew Mason and Fazeer Mohamed and famous cricket photographer, Gordon Brooks, are also featured.

According to the release, Saunders-Franklyn said the film was produced on a budget of US$700,000 and dates for regional distribution are being finalised.

"It is a true celebration of regional; talent and expertise and showcases the colourful and rich culture of our people, professionally packaged to unveil to the work.
