Campus jamboree back with a bang

On Easter Monday night the University of Guyana Students Society (UGSS) did what it seems to do best, promote a live session with a solid mix of sound systems and live appearances.
After three years of dormancy, Academic Freedom, came back with a bang courtesy of the UGSS. Overall, it was a good session; no guns even though there were no detectors at the gate. There were some spots worth mentioning.
Brutal Jammers has evolved into a band of some mean repute. Ras Matta, Ison and the crew put on a massive performance again to keep the fans well entertained at the campus jamboree in the evening half of the promotion. Fusion Audio and Equalizer Sounds assisted the Jammers.
The line up of artistes following the Jammers intro were X Factor who have reverted to dancing after a foray into the wilds of the Soca monarchy, Passion, 24K, Typheon, Gialiani, Jory and Malo. The highlights of the live show were Jory and Malo who both awakened the crowd.
The lowlight was Typheon. With a live voice that squeaks this young performer has got to get some serious voice coaching or maybe she could lip sync. The Scene ain't bluffing this time, Typheon is beautiful; Beyonce-like even, but the latter probably has more voice in her toenail than the former has in her singing voice. Wildfire Productions has got some work to do.
Luckily, for JB he's got Malo in the camp. This youth had the ladies grabbing at his clothing - real thing, no joke. With the usual energy plus some just off an excursion to Canada, Malo put in his usual adrenaline rush set.
Jory was also explosive. Out of the Brutal Traxx studio this fellow is creative and Christian probably needs to push this guy some more. Jory as said before was one of the artistes to genuinely connect with the crowd. With smart lyrics and funny punch lines the artiste was most entertaining reminiscent of story-telling DJs Ninjaman and Papa San among others.
