Honoring World Boxing Champions
Early in the morning of Sunday February 18, 2001, Andrew `Sixhead' Lewis became the first Guyanese boxer fighting under the Golden Arrowhead, to win a world boxing title. His victory was followed by nationwide celebrations which included the declaration of a national holiday and several accolades being bestowed on the new champion. Now Guyana prepares to welcome home two new world champions. Within eight days of each other Guyanese fighters Wayne `Big Truck' Braithwaite and `Vicious' Vivian Harris captured the WBC Cruiserweight and the WBA Junior Welter-weight titles respectively.
